Dia is L'Oréal Professionnel's demi-permanent family, with two chemistries for two jobs: Dia Light, the ammonia-free acid gloss that tones and delivers mirror shine without touching the base, and Dia Richesse, the ammonia-free alkaline that blends gray and gives more coverage. Here are its 16 shades by level.

Both mix 1:1.5 with the Diactivateur developer: Dia Light with the 9 vol (2.7%), Dia Richesse with 9 or 15 vol depending on the service. Processing time: 20 minutes.

Dia Light vs Dia Richesse: how to choose

The numbering is classic L'Oréal (9.01 = level 9, natural ash), but choosing between the two sisters is a diagnosis call, not a code call:

  • Dia Light (acid gloss): acid pH, zero lift, maximum shine. For toning blondes and highlights, refreshing sensitized ends, and express gloss services. On natural hair with no gray it barely deposits.
  • Dia Richesse (ammonia-free alkaline): deposits more pigment, blends up to 70% gray, and works on natural hair. For first-time color, refreshes with coverage, and deeper tones.

Quick salon rule: lightened or sensitized hair → Light; natural or gray hair → Richesse.

The chemistry. Dia Light is an acid gloss: no lift, maximum respect for sensitized fiber, mirror shine — the highlight toner par excellence. Dia Richesse is ammonia-free alkaline: it deposits more, blends up to 70% gray, and performs on virgin natural hair, where Light barely acts.

1:1.5 with Diactivateur in both lines. Dia Light always with the 9 vol (2.7%). Dia Richesse with 9 vol for standard deposit or 15 vol when you need more gray blending or a touch of extra lift. 20 minutes processing.

Dia Richesse blends up to 70% gray with a natural translucent effect — it does not block it out. Dia Light is not designed for gray. For 100% coverage, move to Majirel or INOA.

It is its specialty. Its acid pH seals the cuticle sensitized by lightening and adds shine while toning. Classics: 10.01 to neutralize yellow, 9.02 for pearl beige, 8.34 for warm golds. On damp hair, checking from minute 10.
